Almond Cherry Bliss Birthday Cake

This cake was created specifically for my younger brother. We do not often get to see each other as he lives in a different province than I do, let alone get to celebrate a birthday together. This year however, we were able to gather and celebrate his birthday in person and that circumstance called for a special cake. His birthday is in June and after consulting with my sister-in-law, we decided that the cake needed to include cherries, pastry cream and almond flavoring.
